Crazy Clean Kitchen & Bath!

Updated: Mar 14, 2021

Is it just me or is there something SO satisfying about cleaning the kitchen and bathroom? We use them every day and most likely spend the most regular cleaning time in these rooms. And they can get REALLY dirty! But speaking for myself, I feel really accomplished after just a few minutes of cleaning when everything is sparkly and smells fresh!

Most of us do some cleaning in the kitchen and bath on a daily and weekly basis, and that is not what these posts are about, but I do have a tidbit to share about saving time on these chores.

I save time on my usual cleaning routines by multitasking and letting the cleaners do some of the work for me. How? For example, squirt/spray cleaner on the bathtub/shower area and toilet, but let the cleaner sit on the dirt while cleaning up the vanity area or floor. Then return to scrub off the tile, toilet, and tub after the cleaner has softened up the grime. Easy-peasy and super fast!

I also like natural cleaning when possible - for example we have an excess of citrus here in the South this time of year. So I recently received a large bag of lemons from my brother, and this is what I did:

  1. Cut them in half, juiced them, and froze the juice in an ice cube tray for later use.

  2. Then I sprinkled baking soda on my sink, stovetop, grease trap, and counters and used the spent lemon halves as the scrub sponge.

  3. Wet a paper towel and and wipe the surfaces to remove the dirt and residue.

The result is no more grease, super shiny, extremely clean surfaces - plus a lovely lemon scent! (And yes I also used up a "too small to eat" grapefruit.)

I also like to polish my stainless steel appliances with a little bit of olive oil (in case you've never heard of that).

And have you tried cleaning your mirrors with shaving cream to reduce the steamy fog? It really works!

This month's checklist highlights many of your normal cleaning tasks plus more deep cleaning and organizing in these oft-used spaces, but I urge you to try some NEW ways to clean better or in a new way! Like these "hacks"
